Since last monday caravanfilm.co.uk/invest will take you straight to our new Invest page, launched in conjunction with our new project “Daggers Drawn”. On monday 9 aug we’re promoting the “Daggers Drawn” investment opportunity in association with Financial Times Adviser. There is also a new link in the main navigation bar taking you straight there from anywhere on the site.
Blog feeds now by FeedSweep
When suddenly NewsGator abandoned us and our blog feeds vanished off the homepage I got down to some googling and found this RSS Feeder. Easier to use than NewsGator and quicker to update too. Very easy to save settings online for later use, but there is one hitch; while it’s very easy to create a free “add based” account, it’s tricky to find where to pay a few $$ to get rid of the adds. Although, I’m grateful for having this free service provided, I find it a bit annoying to have the sponsor add several times so close to each other. Especially when one has several feeds (as above) on one page…. let’s see if we’ll managed to change that soon…
Browser Compatibility
We’ve been working a bit on the cross Browser Compatibility here.
Firefox and Safari were our aim from the beginning, and have always worked fine.
IE, 8, 7, 6 etc (god help us) have been a greater problem. I don’t know why it should be so difficult, but for some reason the browser doesn’t interpret paddings, margins and pixel sizes in the same way as other mor modern browsers. I am not a seasoned professional web-developer myself, but I’ve dabbled enough to be able to get done what I need done, but issues like this really throws me.
Anyway, I keep testing and at the moment we should be fairly in the green with:
Firefox
Safari
Netscape
Opera
Flock
Camino
Shiira
… I know there are more browsers out there, but this list should cover most of the ones used that actually load images and flash.. I think.. I actually have no idea to be honest.
The remaining issue with IE is a z-index problem with the menus on the Player Page where one can watch our movies. This problem also occurs in Camino and Flock where the CSS dropdown conflicts with the Flash Player even though the menu is on top. Hopefully this should be sorted soon and so that we can all suft safely onwards..

These guys are all hard working, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, skilled and generally knows what they’re talking about. If you would be interested in working with one or several of them we confidently recommend all of them and add that we have 100% trust their ability to bring creativity, new views and hard work into projects.

Some of these people have a long history with us, and us with them. Others have joined the caravan more recently, but they wouldn’t be on this page if we weren’t looking for every opportunity to pull them into a project.
This page is not complete yet. More people will be added and possibly we devide the list up in a few categories.

Press: Search for the Lost Treasure of Afghanistan
We’ve finally updated the press page for the FIVE version of “Search for the Lost Treasure of Afghanistan”. This page has been overlooked ever since the major overhaul of the whole site. Now we’ve collected a few articles and images. This page will contiue to be updated as the German ZDF TV version will be screened 1st May 2009 and further when our “Behind The Scenes” feature documenatary is closer to being finished.
slideshow front page
A stills slide show added to the front page. This time its not moving images, but instead some still shots from various documentary shoots and expeditions. Most of these pictures can also be seen in the various galleries for respective project, and also in David Flamholc’s flickr photostream that you find to the left on the .clips page.
Next part that we’re trying to finish and update is our Associates section, where we will feature freelancers that we frequently work closely with, some of which we’ve worked with for many years.

home page (nearly) ready!
New banner + flickr slide show..
The home page is now getting ready, plus some general updates made. Further down by the blog excerpts, there are images of us added, just to make it all that little bit more personal.
Also, check out the flickr gallery on the Stills page, that contains a steady stream of all our shots taken on trips to India, Afghanistan, Peru, Cambodia, USA… even Europe.
The re-design of the caravan site was aimed at being very changable and easy to update as the same time as being easy to use. Please give us feedback. We’d love to hear ideas on how to make it better and most of all if there is stuff you’d like to know, about us or have us talk about on the site… if you’re using IE and are having trouble, we are actually working on trying to make that ride smoother. If you happen to know how to do this, please get in touch! more stuff soon added.

News, Blog and Update feeds incorporated.
Using a free service called NewsGator, and an excellent tutorial on how to use this hidden function, the news section on our frontpage (above) is now updated dynamically through RSS feed, together with small samples from our blogs and this update section. Very convenient me thinks.

Back dated post – Saturday, Feb 7 2009
WordPress MU updated successfully to from v2.6 to v2.7 and running smoothly. There were some issues with the updating at first affecting the user login function, but it turned out to be a simple address hirarchy problem in the wp-login.php fils, as the wordpress blogs are not located in the site root.
